OUR MISSION
inContext is a ministry that produces free videos, written resources and other study tools designed to help make the Bible accessible to everyone. While we believe the Bible overflows with wisdom for our modern world, it is a diverse collection of ancient books that requires responsible interpretation. It is not merely a collection of inspirational quotes or a codebook outlining rules to live by.
We believe biblical theology at its best involves discovering the intended message of the biblical writers to their original audience. Because of the cultural and linguistic gap that exists between the Bible and us, context is crucial.
Bible study is difficult, but its meaning is not limited to biblical scholars. Good interpretation requires sweat [effort] and skill [hermeneutical tools], not just sincere devotion. Our goal is to provide you with some of these tools, while also making the Bible so appealing that you will be motivated to put forth the effort.
OUR STORY AND WHO WE ARE
At its heart, Bible inContext is a labor of love created by a husband-and-wife team. We started this online resource to bridge the gap between our local Sabbath School and the many friends, study partners, and church family members we’ve been blessed to walk alongside over the years.
Whether you are currently studying with us at our local church (especially our Bible inContext Sabbath School), or you are a beloved member of one of our previous church communities, we are so glad you are here. This site is our way of staying connected and continuing to study God’s Word together, no matter the distance.
We are the sole writing, researching, and creative team behind everything you find on this site—fueling this free, independent study resource from our home to yours.
DIEGO SILVA

Diego is a local church pastor and PhD student at Liberty University. He is married to Melissa and together they have two small children, Caleb and Abigail. He loves to study and teach the Bible, and when he has free time, he enjoys white-water rafting, hiking, surfing and sledding with his kids.
Diego loves digging into the historical, literary, and cultural backgrounds of the biblical text. With a deep love for teaching and unpacking the original languages, they spend their time researching, writing, and formatting our study notes and videos to make complex theology accessible and engaging for everyday readers.
MELISSA SILVA

Melissa is passionate about history, languages and cultures. Her undergraduate and master's degrees were in theology, and she hopes to one day pursue a Ph.D. in biblical studies to better understand the cultural backgrounds of the Bible. She loves to travel, meet people and learn new languages.
Melissa brings her heart for community, practical application, and thoughtful study to the team. Working alongside Diego on every resource, she ensures the study materials they produce are not only historically sound but deeply relevant to daily faith. Whether reviewing content or collaborating on lessons, Melissa keeps the focus grounded on the transformative power of God’s Word.
